On the occasion of the 28th International Volunteer Day, 2013 International Volunteering Expo, co-sponsored by China Communist Youth League Beijing Committee, Beijing Volunteer Federation and Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO), was held in Beijing on Dec. 5th. A total of 500-odd deputies from over 300 volunteer organizations at home and abroad attended the Expo, including those from the United Nations Development Program, the United Nations Volunteers (UNV), China International Center for Economic and Technical Exchanges, Beijing Committee for Social Affairs, Beijing Cultural and Ethical Progress Office, Beijing Comprehensive Administration Office, and Beijing Women’s Federation.
Themed on “Uniting the Power of Volunteering, Fostering the China Dream”, the Expo set up 6 seminars to discuss international cooperation on volunteerism, environmental protection voluntary activities, construction of community-based volunteering systems, corporate social responsibilities and volunteerism, youth volunteering, and Party and League members engagement in volunteering respectively.
At the opening ceremony, keynote speeches were delivered by Zhao Jinfang, Secretary General of Preparatory Committee of China Volunteer Service Federation, Richard Dictus, Executive Coordinator of UNV, Hu Dayi, Director of Cardiovascular Institute of Peking University and Leader of Dayi Bo’ai Voluntary Service Team, Dave Jones, Executive Manager of Program Services at Australian Volunteers International, Yang Yang, a member of the International Olympic Committee and Founder of Champion Foundation and “Happy Sports” voluntary service project, Chen Wanfen, Chief Representative of VSO Beijing Office, and Lu Shizhen, Director of Beijing Voluntary Service Development Institute and Youth Development Institute of China Youth University for Political Sciences.
As the language service provider, Activator once again worked hand in glove with VSO and ensured a complete success of the Expo.
